family is welcome to our first edition of Round Table talk here at Dartmouth Middle School my name is Kristen Anderson and I am so proud to be the principal of this year at the Met Dartmouth Middle School what are your new family or your returning student I want to welcome you to the 2018-19 school year we've got a lot of great things going on and I know his parents it's very tough time time to balance our work our fam paralyzed and I wanted to reach out and introduce myself and share that each month will be having a round table talk that will be delivered to you and it's just about a short video kind of sharing a little bit about what's going on what you need to know how you can support as either in the school setting or at home and took some great tips for for you to support your middle school student but as soon as it turns July after the 4th of July I saw feel that school is coming and whether you love that feeling or you hate that feeling it is coming it's right around the corner the very first day of school is August 13th and I cannot wait to meet all of your kids as you are preparing for school to start there's a few things you need to know the first thing is we need to engage in that registration process all students whether your new or returning will will be part of the registration. That we sent home a letter looks kind of like that some details that could give you the highlights of the four step process the first process is to just come to our school office we're actually open today the 18th of July until 3 o'clock and you're welcome to come in bring your pro presidency so that was usually be some type of utility belt and come pick up a registration packet once you got that packet you will go ahead and go you can do it here at school or go home online and fill out three roses station on our Aeries Parent Portal after you've done that you'll get a confirmation that you can either print or we can print for you here at school once you filled out our paper packet and you've done the online packet you're ready to come back to school to register your child RV registration dates are Monday July 30th from 8 to 3 Tuesday July 31st from 9 to 6 and Wednesday August 1st from 8 to 3 you give us a call we can see what we can do take to get you in when your student does come to register they'll be taking yearbook photos so make sure their camera ready cuz they'll be able to use that your back and ID photo on all throughout the year open widget preparing for returning to school and if you choose to take up some of those great back to school sales just keep in mind our dress code it's a pretty Common Sense dress code if you go to our school website you can see the very specific details of that but I'm I would urge you to text that out so that way you can be prepared to do that if you were a brand new 6 grader I cannot wait to welcome you to Dartmouth we are going to have an awesome time and we're going to start off by kicking it with an ASB orientation if you were a new 6th grader you will be informally invited to our 6th grade orientation on Tuesday August 7th from 9:30 to 11:30 to learn about Dartmouth you'll get two tickets to worm eats people make some friends be ready to go for the first day of school then later that evening at 5:30 pink bring your family's plan to join us for a Welcome Back BBQ parents you can get a chance to check out the school will have other clubs and other people there so if you have any questions you can talk to her office staff you can talk to some of the teachers and I we can try to hook you up with the right people if you have specific questions and it's nice to be able to kind of get a sense of where your kids will be everyday so we really hope that you can join us for that opportunity if you are an incoming 7th grader make sure that you have proof of your Tdap vaccine you've got to have this before the first day of school there are a lot of free clinics all over Unified School District not only at Dartmouth but around some of the other schools as well you can check our school website and the district website for those specific Clinic they are free and they're available throughout the summer the closest one will be at the gym this August 3rd from 9 to 4 and August 7th from 1:30 to 3:30 so check that out and make sure that you get that for 7th grade we have back to school night coming up that's there August 23rd that's when we want everyone to come all grade levels families everyone we will be serving some refreshments and selling pizza SD will be we can't wait to have you be part of our community here at this year our theme is all about Awakening the greatness within I want to thank you parents for trusting us with your kids they come to us with unique talents and skills and abilities and they have a lot of greatness in at this time in middle school is our opportunity to really help them explore their talents their their skills and really help them discover the greatness within so I look forward to partnering with you this school year please check back Austin I'll be posting videos once a month to just give you some updates about what's going on if you see me around please introduce yourself I can't wait to meet you also stay connected with us we have a lot of different forms to connect with you we have our web and we have Twitter at DMS night we have a Facebook at DMS night we also have a remind a remind is a awesome app that will send you basically text messages with information if you want to get the text or app notifications you just text at DMS Knights to the number 81010 share with you is on this flyer today I'll make sure to attach hello on our website have an awesome day looking forward to a great year thanks again for trusting us with your Treasures
