Integrated Science 6 (Period 5)

Course Description

Welcome!

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Dartmouth Sixth Grade.  My name is Tami Engel and I will be your child’s sixth grade integrated science teacher.  I am beyond excited to teach at Dartmouth this year.  Through classroom activities, science labs, and numerous hands-on projects, we will be examining the world around us.  Students will be exposed to concrete, physical-world experiences to help them develop concepts associated with these topics.  During our scientific explorations, I will use a variety of teaching methods and assessments that will allow students to learn and communicate their understanding in a variety of ways.  Assessment of student understanding will be comprised of quizzes and tests, labs, notebook checks, projects, homework, group activities, and science current events.  Student participation and cooperation are vital to making this class a positive experience for all of us.

Course Description:  Earth Science is a Standards based class.  The topics covered will be the Nature of Science, Laboratory Safety, SI (Metric) Measurement, Life Skills, Energy, the Water Cycle, Cells and Body Systems, Growth and Development and Human Impact.
